Optimus Prime Project - Optimization de green infrastructure in irrigated agricultural valleys to promote environmental quality and biodiversity
On September 29, the Optimus Prime project developed by the Instituto Superior de Agronomia in partnership with Agrotejo and financed by the FCT (Foundation for Science and Technology) was presented. In the lecture, which took place at the headquarters of Agrotejo in Golegã, Professor Teresa Ferreira presented the project's objectives to an audience made up of farmers, association representatives, municipal entities, academics and other interested parties. After introducing the project, Gonçalo Duarte; Paulo Flores and João Pato enlightened the audience on the biological indicators used, the ecosystem services potentially provided and economic indicators relevant to the design of a tool for analyzing and simulating the ecosystem services provided by a given property. The online calculator will help the farmer to evaluate the ecosystem services currently provided, in his plot, and to simulate optimizations of these services that, associated with an economic conversion of the same, will allow an estimate of the profits/losses resulting from this optimization. Soon the calculator will be available online at www.agrotejo.pt

Adaptation of the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Reserve delivered to Unesco
On the 21st of September, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Palácio das Necessidades), in Lisbon, it was delivered by representatives of the Management Body of the Paul do Boquilobo Biosphere Reserve (RBPB), to the President of the UNESCO National Commission , HE Ambassador Ana Martinho, the Candidature Dossier which aims to obtain the conservation status of 2nd Generation Biosphere Reserves. In this new context, the RBPB will not only include a conservation aspect, but also intend to enhance other endogenous resources of the region, namely rural tourism, sustainable agriculture, research and environmental awareness.
STUBBLE - A second culture so that nothing is lost!
AGROMAIS, AGROTEJO, the Portuguese Federation of Food Banks Against Hunger (FPBACF) and ENTRAJUDA joined forces in the project “RESTOLHO - a Second Harvest so that nothing is lost”, totally differentiating in terms of combating food waste.
AGROMAIS/AGROTEJO producers, when harvesting, are obliged, due to lack of commercial value, to leave a product with smaller calibers or slight defects in the fields.
The Food Banks Against Hunger have daily contact with social solidarity institutions that need these products and ENTRAJUDA with volunteers who, individually or as part of corporate volunteering programs, want to collaborate in a civic intervention logic._cc781905-5cde-3194-bb3b- 136bad5cf58d_
ONGATEJO joins NATURAL.PT
The platform Natural.pt was created with the objective of bringing together in the same space all the information about protected areas, facilitating the process of visiting turismo. The Natural.pt brand includes all protected areas and information about them. When someone wants to visit these places, they consult the platform and explore information about the protected area and its values, but also consult the hotels, restaurants, horse breeders , crafts, activities that are in that region of the protected area .
Natural.pt thus presents itself as a «visit organizer» of protected areas. Local companies, associations and other entities can join the platform.
ONGATEJO is part of Paul do Boquilobo's PLOG, which together analyzes the candidacies of members of Natural.pt.
POINT TROTE - Bike Sharing System
The City Council of Golegã participates in a sustainable mobility project that allows for the continuous improvement of travel conditions, the reduction of impacts on the environment and the increase in the quality of life of citizens.
A public bicycle sharing system was thus implemented, based on the provision of a fleet of bicycles at fixed terminals.
